An upper eyelid surgery, how does it work?

Are you considering an upper eyelid correction, and are you curious about how that actually works at Looks Clinics?
An upper eyelid correction is an operation that takes 45 minutes.
The surgery is always performed by an experienced eye surgeon at Looks Clinics.
You call the clinic or make an appointment online at www.ooglidcorrectiezwolle.nl for a free, no-obligation consultation.
During the consultation we will discuss your wishes and options with you, we will also do some tests to assess your suitability for an upper eyelid correction.
You will receive information about the surgery and there will be plenty of time for questions.
The consultation will last approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
You will also receive a bag with information about the surgery.
You have made an appointment for the upper eyelid correction, you will be received at our office on the appropriate date.
There will be time for a cup of coffee or tea, and you can tell us your music preferences that you would like to listen to during the surgery.
We will ask before the surgery if you would like to fill out the consent form on the iPad.
The assistant will take you to the operating room and treat the eyelids with a numbing cream (EMLA), this numbs the skin, so you will feel less of the numbing injections in your eyelids.
Meanwhile, the doctor begins marking the eyelids with a marker.
Under the skin of the eyelids, injections of local anesthetic (Lidocaine with adrenaline) are given.
The adrenaline in the anesthetic pinches the blood vessels shut, reducing bleeding during the surgery.
Once the anesthesia has taken effect, you will not feel any more of the surgery.
You will be covered with protective sterile cloths so that the surgery is sterile and clean, beforehand your face will be disinfected.
At Looks Clinics we work with disposable instruments, this means that we use everything only once and then throw it away.
The doctor begins with the operation.
The excess skin is removed.
The incisions are made so that the scar is hardly visible later on.
The eye surgeon may choose to coagulate, in which case he uses a coagulation device to burn the blood vessels shut, instantly creating a new arcade arch.
The skin edges are closed with non-dissolvable sutures.
One continuous suture is usually placed.
Because this gives better wound healing.
The 4 ends of the sutures are taped with special suture patches.
The surgery is finished, everything is cleaned up and you are given a cooling mask that allows you to rest quietly for another 15 minutes.
The assistant picks you up and the doctor does a final check.
The assistant will explain the best things to do in the first few days.
An appointment will be made after 6 days to remove the stitches.
The assistant will remove the stitches and you will receive advice on how best to treat the wound.
During this appointment you will also receive a tube of scar cream to help the scar heal nicely. After 2 months we make another appointment for the final check-up and the final result.
If you would like to come back in between, that is of course no problem at all.
