What questions should I ask about eyelid surgery?
You don't just have an operation on your eyelids done. Operations on the face and certainly on the eyes can cause a lot of worries. Many of these worries can be taken away by asking the right questions to your practitioner during a consultation.
Use this checklist as a guideline during your consultation
- How much surgical experience do you have?
- Have you ever worked in a hospital and performed these procedures?
- Are you academically trained? If so, where?
- Is the surgical facility approved by an independent body?
- Am I a good candidate for this procedure?
- What is expected of me to achieve the best result?
- Where and how will you perform my procedure?
- Is there a permanent surgical team present? If so, who will operate on me?
- Which surgical technique is recommended for me?
- How long can I expect a recovery period and what help will I need during my recovery?
- What are the risks and complications of my procedure?
- What will my eyes look like over time?
- Do you have before and after photos I can look at for this procedure and are these results representative of me?
