What is an eyelid correction?
Eyelid correction is a medical or cosmetic procedure in which the eye surgeon removes excess skin and fat from the eyelids. Excess skin is also known as dermatochalasis. Drooping eyelids can, among other things, give you a tired appearance. Upper eyelid correction can also be performed using a laser: an advanced, modern procedure offered only in specialised clinics. Read more about the laser-assisted upper eyelid correction. If the eyebrow in particular sags, then a direct brow lift be more suitable, possibly in combination with an upper eyelid correction. The eye surgeon assesses this during the consultation. If the eyelid margin itself is too low due to a weakened eyelid muscle (ptosis), then a ptosis correction the appropriate procedure; the eye surgeon also assesses this during the consultation.

How does an eyelid correction work?
Symptoms associated with drooping eyelids
Drooping eyelids can make you look older and can make applying make-up difficult. They can also cause the following symptoms:
- A tired look;
- Reduced field of vision;
- Difficulty wearing glasses;
- Difficulty reading;
- Headaches;
- Watery eyes.
The main causes are ageing and hereditary predisposition. Smoking and excessive exposure to UV radiation, for example from tanning beds, can accelerate skin sagging. Sometimes a physical condition plays a role.
Who is it for
Most of our clients are between 35 and 55, from their early twenties to well into their seventies; mainly women, and increasingly men as well. Age is not decisive: what matters are your symptoms, such as a heavy or tired look or skin resting on the lashes, and, where relevant, your aesthetic wishes. Whether the procedure is suitable for you is assessed by the eye surgeon during the consultation.

Yes. The upper eyelid correction is performed under local anaesthesia and takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Administering the anaesthetic may be briefly sensitive; once the anaesthetic has taken effect, you will usually only feel some pressure.
Six days after the procedure, you will return for the removal of the stitches. You will then be given a scar cream. In the months that follow, the scar, which lies largely in the natural eyelid crease, usually becomes less and less visible.
You can generally resume administrative work after three days. We advise against physical work, work in healthcare, and work in the hospitality industry for the first week. Keep the area well cooled for the first three days; three days after the procedure, an assistant will call you to ask how you are doing.
It is best not to wear contact lenses during the first week; after that, take care not to pull hard on your eyelids for the first month. We advise against using make-up during the first week; after that, you can start again.
Upper eyelid correction is a cosmetic procedure and is generally not reimbursed by health insurers. Looks Clinics is a non-contracted healthcare provider; you pay for the treatment directly. The price is € 1,750, including the introductory consultation, aftercare and check-ups.
The final result is visible after approximately six months and usually lasts for many years; however, natural skin ageing continues.

Laser-assisted upper eyelid correction
