Are you considering an upper eyelid correction and are you curious about how it all works at Looks Clinics? Then read on and discover the steps involved;
An upper eyelid correction is an operation that takes 45 minutes. The operation is always performed by an experienced eye surgeon at Looks Clinics.
You call the clinic or make an appointment online via www.ooglidcorrectiezwolle.nl for a free consultation without obligation. During the consultation we will discuss your wishes and the possibilities with you, we will also perform a number of tests to assess whether you are suitable for an upper eyelid correction. You will receive information about the operation and there will be sufficient time for questions. The consultation takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes. You will also receive a bag with information about the operation.
You have made an appointment for the upper eyelid correction, you will be received by us on the relevant date. There is time for a cup of coffee or tea, and you can let us know your music preferences that you want to listen to during the operation. We ask before the operation if you want to fill in the consent form on the iPad.
The assistant will take you to the operating room and treat your eyelids with an anesthetic cream (EMLA), which will numb the skin so that you will feel less of the anesthetic injections in your eyelids. In the meantime, the doctor will start marking the eyelids with a pen. Injections with local anesthetic (Lidocaine with adrenaline) will be given under the skin of the eyelids. The adrenaline in the anesthetic squeezes the blood vessels shut, which reduces bleeding during the operation. Once the anesthetic has taken effect, you will no longer feel anything of the operation.
You will be covered with protective sterile cloths so that the operation is sterile and clean, your face will be disinfected beforehand. At Looks Clinics we work with disposable instruments, this means that we only use everything once and then throw it away.
The doctor starts the operation. The excess skin is removed. The incisions are made in such a way that the scar is not or barely visible later. The eye surgeon can choose to coagulate, in which case he burns the blood vessels closed with a coagulation device, and thus immediately creates a new arcade arch. The skin edges are closed with non-dissolvable sutures. Usually one continuous suture is placed. Because this gives better wound healing. The 4 ends of the sutures are covered with special adhesive plasters.
The operation is finished, everything is cleaned up and you get a cooling mask with which you can rest for another 15 minutes. The assistant will pick you up and the doctor will do a final check. The assistant will explain what you should do the first few days.
An appointment is made after 6 days to remove the stitches. The assistant will remove the stitches and you will receive advice on how to best treat the wound. During this appointment you will also receive a tube of scar cream from us, to allow the scar to heal nicely.
After 2 months we will make another appointment for the final check and the final result. If you would like to come by again in the meantime, that is of course no problem.
