What is the process like?
An eyelid correction at Looks Clinics proceeds in a number of clear steps. You will visit our Amsterdam location three times: for the introductory consultation, for the procedure, and for the removal of the stitches.
Introductory consultation and treatment plan
During a free and no-obligation introductory consultation, either at the clinic or online, you will discuss your concerns and wishes with one of our doctors. The doctor will assess your eyelids and explain what results are achievable. You will receive practical information about the procedure, preparation, and recovery, enabling you to make an informed decision. We allow a minimum of one week for reflection between the consultation and the procedure.
The treatment
We schedule the procedure in consultation with you. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes, and is carried out by one of our specialised doctors. We work meticulously and with an eye for detail, aiming for a natural result that complements your face.
Aftercare and check-up
Six days after the procedure, you will return for the removal of the stitches. During this appointment, we will assess your recovery and provide you with clear aftercare advice. Additionally, you will receive daily instructions for your recovery via our recovery app. You can also contact us with any questions after that.

How does an eyelid correction work?

At Looks Clinics, upper eyelid correction for both eyes costs € 1,750. This is an all-inclusive rate, including aftercare and follow-up appointments. This way, you know exactly what to expect beforehand. The introductory consultation is free and without obligation, either at the clinic or online.

Upper eyelid correction is a cosmetic procedure and is generally not reimbursed. This may be different only in cases of clear medical necessity; your health insurer will assess this. Looks Clinics is a non-contracted healthcare provider. This means that you pay for the treatment yourself, usually by debit card, unless otherwise agreed in advance. You will receive a clear invoice from us, which you can submit to your health insurer if desired. Whether and how much you are reimbursed depends on your policy conditions.
As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks associated with eyelid correction. Our doctors work carefully and take appropriate safety measures, meaning complications are rare. However, temporary symptoms may occur, such as swelling, a pulling sensation, dry eyes, or eyes that tear up more easily. Rare complications include post-operative bleeding, infection, slight asymmetry, or a more noticeable scar. We will discuss all risks with you during the consultation.
The result typically lasts for many years; however, natural skin ageing continues. Because excess skin and fatty tissue are removed, one treatment is sufficient in most cases. If the skin sags again over time, a second treatment can be considered in consultation.
No, general anaesthesia is not necessary. We perform eyelid correction under local anaesthesia around the eyes. You remain awake during the treatment; thanks to the anaesthetic, you usually feel only some pressure or a pulling sensation. Afterwards, you can usually go home immediately. You do not need to fast before this procedure. However, we advise you not to drive yourself on the day of the treatment.
The experience varies from person to person, but most clients find the procedure well tolerated. Administering the anaesthetic may cause a brief stinging sensation; this subsides quickly. After the procedure, you may experience mild post-operative pain or a pulling sensation, similar to a minor graze. Paracetamol is usually not necessary, but you may take it if you wish.
The procedure itself takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
Rest during the first few days is important for a good recovery. We advise avoiding heavy physical exertion during the first week. You can resume administrative work three days after the procedure; if you perform physical work or work in healthcare or the hospitality industry, we advise you not to work during the first week. We will remove the stitches six days after the procedure. In the weeks that follow, swelling and any discoloration will decrease; the scars will gradually fade in the months that follow and eventually usually become barely noticeable.
